The Czech Republic is a landlock country in Central Europe. Even though we don't have sea, our country has so much to offer. When you'll come you'll visit not only beautiful old cities but also mountains, forests and more!

The Czech Republic today is comprised of three major regions: Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia.

Bohemia

Bohemia

Bohemia, the western half of the country, is home to the capital city of Prague and two major rivers, the Vltava and the Elbe. Other places of interest in Bohemia include the fairy-tale city of Český Krumlov, the spa town of Karlovy Vary, the stunning cathedral in Kutná Hora, and Plzeň, home of Pilsner beer.

Moravia

Moravia

On the eastern side of the country lies Moravia, where the second- and third-largest Czech cities, Brno and Ostrava, are found. Moravia is well known for its vineyards and specialty wines, as well as its folk festivals showcasing its distinct culture. Rich deposits of coal and other minerals in Moravia give the area a more industrial feel than Bohemia, as do manufacturing plants.

Silesia

Silesia

Finally, Silesia is the smallest region in the country, found in the northeast corner. Ostrava sits on the border between Moravia and Silesia; other important towns in Silesia include Opava and Český Těšín. Fun fact: Gregor Mendel, founder of genetics, was born in this region!

Weather

Weather

The Czech Republic has a temperate climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. A warm jacket, hat, gloves, and boots are very useful here!

Nature

Nature

Most of the country is flat or rolling hills, though there are low mountain ranges in the border regions. Approximately one third of the Czech Republic is covered in forest, and you will find countless rivers winding their way through the country.
