On 16. September, YFU CZ organised a trip for inbound students, host families and contact persons to Beroun. There were 20 people participating including our new intern Kaja from Serbia, who joined the team of YFU CZ at the beginning of the month.
We all met in front of Sklárna Nenačovice, a small family business which was founded in 1996. The concept of the factory is the small-scale production of art glass with the intention of direct sale of unique pieces in an own showroom.
In the glass factory, we listened to the presentation that included information about their unique procedure of glass making, difference between various glass colours, distribution channels including export to other countries and current demand.
During the presentation we witnessed the production itself, as 3 workers showed us how they make glass Santa Clauses, for the upcoming Christmas season. Participants had time to ask questions and take photos.
After the visit of the factory, all of us got a glass candy as a present. Also, we visited the factory's glass shop, where we could see everything from glass flowers to miniature figures and buy a couple of souvenirs.
The meeting ended with big hugs...
As our visit continued, we were heading to the restaurant Berounský medvěd, where we had a tasty lunch together and enjoyed traditional Czech cuisine at its best. In a cozy and pleasant atmosphere, we all had interesting conversations and were talking about our YFU plans for the future.
The restaurant also has its own brewery and after our meal, we had an exclusive guided tour around the brewery. The meeting ended with big hugs! Our smiling participants were looking forward to the events that are yet to come!
