On 28 March, a meeting of host families took place in Brno. The programme began with a joint visit to the Brno underground water reservoirs at Žlutý kopec, where we took a guided tour of this unique technical and historical site. Participants had the opportunity to see the extensive brick and concrete tanks, learn more about their original function and importance for the city’s water supply, and also experience an impressive light and laser show that brought the whole space to life even more.
After the tour, we set off on foot towards Špilberk Castle in beautiful sunny weather. The walk offered not only a pleasant atmosphere but also lovely views of the city. From Špilberk, we continued on foot to the city centre, where we had lunch together. During lunch, there was space to share experiences related to hosting.
The host families exchanged stories, observations, and practical advice, and talked about what it is like to host a student from a foreign country. It was also mentioned that many students today already understand Czech very well, and some actively use the language in everyday conversation, which significantly contributes to mutual understanding and strengthens relationships. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and was a valuable opportunity for personal connection, sharing experiences, and strengthening the host family community.
