Prague
(7 December)
The Prague meeting started after lunch at Old Town Square, where we were welcomed by the sound of Czech Christmas carols and the smell of festive treats. We walked among the market stalls, tasted traditional trdelník, and warmed up with hot drinks – grog, mulled wine, or coffee. Even though fewer people attended, the atmosphere was very pleasant. We talked about our experiences, discussed practical matters, and shared stories and tips.
After that, we moved to the ice rink near the Estates Theatre, where the conversations continued while some of us enjoyed skating. The weather was on our side – it was unexpectedly warm, so we could fully enjoy the gathering.
Olomouc
(13 December)
Our second meeting will take place this weekend in Olomouc. We will start in the morning in front of the Regional History Museum by the beautiful Tritons’ Fountain, and from there we will go for lunch at the St. Wenceslas Brewery. After lunch, we will take a walk through the historic city centre – past the Church of Our Lady of the Snows, the Chapel of St. John Sarkander, and through charming streets to Horní Square. There, we will see the model of Olomouc, visit the Christmas markets, enjoy sweet treats, and take a look at the famous astronomical clock. Anyone who wishes can then continue with us to St. Maurice’s Church and discover even more of the city’s beautiful landmarks.
